Updated: Aug 17

On June 8th, 2025, Kshatram organized an online seminar titled “Vikasit Bharat” to commemorate Shivrajyabhishek (as per the lunar calendar). The seminar engaged in a discussion on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's policy-making strategies, their rationale, and the execution during his post-coronation reign as Emperor of the Maratha Kingdom, known as Hindavi Swaraj.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s empire was founded on principles of self-governance and right governance. He prioritized the use of native currency, promoted indigenous languages, and upheld legal systems rooted in Bhartiya Dharma for robust economic growth and cultural pride.

Key Takeaways from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Administrative Policy

  • Strategic Foresight - धोरणात्मक दूरदृष्टी: Proactive preparation and continuous improvement are key to success before challenges arise.

  • Local Empowerment - स्थानिक सक्षमीकरण: Fostering a cultural environment for music, art, and human talent builds a robust human resource for sustained economic prosperity.

  • Fortified Infrastructure - मजबूत पायाभूत सुविधा: A well-planned urban infrastructure ensures safety and contributes to a sustainable quality of life.

Lessons for Contemporary India

In contemporary India, we can draw valuable lessons from Shivaji Maharaj's contributions. By implementing these strategies, we can enhance traffic safety and optimize commute congestion. This approach effectively addresses the challenges posed by our growing population.

Improving Traffic Safety and Commute

Here are some key takeaways to improve current traffic safety and commute in urban and rural settlements:

  • Responsible Citizen - जबाबदार नागरिक: A responsible citizen facilitates order in society, encourages safety, and promotes efficiency. This leads to rapid and equitable urban and rural development.

  • Predictive Analysis - भविष्यसूचक विश्लेषण: A society that analyzes its history and comprehends the present can predict the future. By utilizing these insights, we can construct a prosperous nation. Over the next five years, predictive analysis will play a pivotal role in combating traffic congestion. By leveraging data-driven insights, we can proactively prepare and enhance commuting infrastructure. This strategic approach not only addresses current challenges but also anticipates future demands, ensuring a smoother and more efficient transportation system for all.

  • Education by Mother - आईकडून शिक्षण: A mother who educates her children and family about traffic safety regulations can mitigate the risk of life-threatening incidents. By demonstrating these practices herself, she creates a safe and enjoyable commuting environment. It is imperative for parents to instill in their children a profound understanding of Bharat's remarkable legacy—a culture steeped in discipline and reverence for the environment. The people of Bharat revered nature, or prakruti, as sacred, embodying a commitment to preserving the purity of their surroundings. This legacy transcends the realm of history; it stands as a profound testament to the harmonious coexistence between humanity and the natural environment.

  • Sustainable Alternatives - शाश्वत पर्याय: Regular commuting by public transportation, such as buses, trains, and metros, along with adopting a bicycle or walking for shorter distances, significantly reduces traffic congestion. At the same time, these alternatives contribute to reducing air and noise pollution.

Commitment to Change

Concluding the seminar, participants committed to implementing the acquired learnings in their daily lives. They pledged to choose public transportation or opt for walking, demonstrating responsible behavior in both private and public settings. The session was highly productive, and the participants resolved to engage in the subsequent session to delve deeper into traffic safety regulations.

By embracing these principles, we can foster a culture of mindfulness and responsibility. Together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
